The Chitral Fort is a fortification in Chitral metropolis, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The castle is located at the banks of the Chitral River. The fort has a commanding position on the river and is assumed to have been built in 1774 at some stage in the reign of Mohtaram Shah Katur II and restored in 1911 by way of His Highness Sir Shuja ul-Mulk .The compound used to residence the barracks of the guards of Mehtar of Chitral.
The castle was declared because the private belongings of the closing ruler of Chitral following the merger of Chitral State in 1969. It is now occupied via the modern-day ceremonial Mehtar, Fateh-ul-Mulk Ali Nasir who has renovated the antique Darbar Hall and country rooms following damage sustained at some point of the earthquake of 2015.
