Keenjhar Lake

Keenjhar Lake  generally referred to as Malik Lake  is located in Thatta District of Sindh the province of Pakistan. It is situated approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) from the city of Thatta. It is the second-biggest clean water lake in Pakistan and an essential source of consuming water for Thatta District and Karachi city. Through the construction of a bund at the jap side, it is stated that the lake was shaped by the union of  lakes: Sonehri and Keenjhar.

Keenjhar Lake has been declared a ramsar web site and a flora and fauna sanctuary. It affords a good habitat of iciness migratory birds like geese, geese, flamingos, cormorants, waders, herons, egrets, ibises, terns, coots and gulls. It has been found as a breeding location of the black-topped night time heron, the cotton pygmy goose, crimson swamphen, and pheasant-tailed jacana.

Keenjhar Lake is a famous traveler inn. Many people from Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta visit to enjoy picnics, swimming, fishing, and boating.

The well-known folklore of Noori Jam Tamachi who changed into a fisherwoman, is connected to the lake. There is a shrine within the middle of the lake marking Noori’s grave, that is visited with the aid of devotees.
